Living With Epilepsy – Karoline

I was born with epilepsy. I also have mild cerebral palsy and brain damage and I was born with less oxygen in the brain. My seizures are grand mal and mild. I am unsure when they are coming from, but I have had them for nearly 53 years. These seizures can last up to one to ten minutes. However, my pills are helping to control them,  as I have this new medication. The name of the medication is Levetiracetam Rivopharm – 500 mg at the moment there coming lesser and lesser. I thought they had stopped in 1996, but they never did. They just slowed downed. In 1990, I gave birth to my son Joey! I was on the medication Epillim 500mg but they nearly took my life as I was on them for 20 years. This  was when I was 18 and I had my own 2 bedroom flat & bringing up my autistic son on my own. Joey has mild cerebral palsy, and mild autism but I have not had a seizure since be for Christmas. I still have a few mild twitches and I feel  like that I get outside of myself… its a weird feeling. I can’t quite explain. It just feels weird. Plus I suffer from depression & mild balance problems. I struggle every day. Like most people who suffers with epilepsy, I still love my life & my son Joey and I are living our lives. I’m one very very independent person!
