Over the last year, Meagan Patrick has watched her daughter, Addelyn, go from a happy, healthy baby to a medically fragile 14-month-old who cannot sit or stand on her own, does not want to eat and is awake and alert only for very brief periods each day.
She is nearly blind, has frequent brain seizures every day and has already tried several antiseizure medications. Some of the medications have had little or no effect on the seizures, some could affect what little vision she has and some actually make her seizures worse.
Monday, Patrick and Addelyn will board a plane for Colorado to explore the only treatment that Patrick and her husband, Ken, feel might help their daughter — medical marijuana.
