More than 2 million Americans have epilepsy. It isn’t clear how many of these individuals live in Colquitt County.
But students at the Gifted Education with Academic Rigor center — GEAR — can point to two, because they sit right beside them every day.
Last year, GEAR student Hayes Lightsey, who has epilepsy, approached Donna Marshall, director of GEAR, and asked if the school could do something in connection with Epilepsy Awareness Month, which is November. She set aside a week to focus on information about the condition.
