Matt and Nicole Hochstein took a walk recently.
The walk — a stroll, to be more precise — was to raise money for epilepsy awareness. Calling themselves Jayen’s Journey, they raised $1,000 for support of people diagnosed with epilepsy in Nebraska.
That was positive news, but the sad news is that Jayen, their 4 year-old son, is among those diagnosed with the condition.
“We participated in the walk to make people aware of the daily struggle to keep your child safe and to support all people diagnosed with epilepsy in Nebraska,” Nicole said.
Jayen had his first seizure when he was 4 months old. Since that time, he has been given every medicine and medical procedure known in the world of epilepsy to give him a life without seizures. None has worked.
