A teenager who suffers from epilepsy has taken part in the Junior Great North Run – less than a year after the condition almost took her life.
Katie Lee, 14, lined up in the 4k junior race – her dad David, who was also competing, said: “Almost one year ago, Katie had a massive seizure which resulted in her stopping breathing.
“We are so fortunate she is still with us. Katie wants to let people know epilepsy isn’t the end of the world, she regularly says she will not let epilepsy ruin her life.”
Huge congratulations to Katie!!! I do however feel the heading would be more accurate if it read Teenager with Epilepsy…… rather than Epileptic Teenager…… After all she is not the neuronal activity rather the person who endures it.
She’s a shining example to many others. 🙂
