Many know the name Dale Jackson from his role in politics, but to him and his family, Jackson’s most important title is “dad.”
Jackson has three children, but it is his 6-year-old son, Colin, he is fighting for at the state capitol. Colin is autistic and according to Jackson, low functioning and nonverbal.
“He still can’t feed himself, still can’t tie his shoes or go to the bathroom by himself,” Jackson explained.
Colin’s development was also sidelined by seizures he had when he was born. Jackson said the anti-seizure medications were as dangerous as the seizures.
“The first medication … the doctor informed us he could only take it for so long because it would destroy his kidneys,” Jackson explained. “One of the best seizure medications for his side effects would destroy his liver … anti-seizure medications destroy organs.”
