This year’s Battle for Paul Bunyan’s Axe will feature an impressive element of teamwork between two of college football’s longest-standing rivals. When the Minnesota Gophers travel to Madison for the Nov. 29 game against the Wisconsin Badgers, both teams will be wearing purple stickers on their helmets to raise epilepsy awareness.
I think it is great that they are doing this for epilepsy awareness. I am a Nebraskan and Husker fan, but did buy two tickets to the Husker vs Gopher game November 22 to show support for Minnesota and their head coach. I am sitting in the Gopher section. My dad is 81 and going to his first game at Nebraska to show support as well. My mom had epilepsy and two brain surgeries in Denver, my brother had epilepsy and brain surgery at mayo clinic in Rochester and I have epilepsy and had my brain surgery at UNMC in Omaha. I support Jerry Kill 100% for what he is doing at Minnesota and the positive publicity he has brought on for epilepsy. I definitely will be supporting the Gophers instead of the Huskers at that game.
