A little girl thought to have a bout of hiccups had in fact suffered a massive stroke.
Emma Willis is today fighting back as she recovers from the seizure which stunned her family.
Mom Louise, 38, said: “We were devastated. We had no idea that someone as young as her could have a stroke.
“I just want other parents to know that it can happen and they should be aware.”
Louise, of Teal Farm, Washington, had felt fine during her pregnancy with Emma but suffered complications during her labour.
She said: “She was only about five hours old when her colour started to change.
“They weren’t happy with how she looked and the midwife decided to the doctor had better take a look at her.
“She looked like she was just hiccuping but it turned out those hiccups were in fact seizures.”
