In honor of National Dog Day, there is no story more inspirational than that of Creed and Casper. After a lifetime of illnesses and hospital stays for a little boy named Creed, the bond he had with his service dog named Casper was a strong as ever. Last year while Creed was in the hospital and near death, a nurse said Casper brought Creed back to life.
“I told Creed that Caspy was with him,” said Stephanie Campbell, the little boy’s mother. Casper jumped on the bed, and Stephanie placed his paw in Creed’s hand. Creed squeezed the paw. A nurse who witnessed the interaction said, “That dog just brought that boy back to life.”
Creed died a short time later. Around the same time, a new litter of Canine Assistants puppies was born. One of the dogs was named Creed in his honor. A year later, Creed the service dog has been paired with his new best friend, 18-year-old Blair Hagelgans who suffers from epilepsy. Because of Creed’s special training, Blair can now go to college.
