Lianna Garcia was more than ready to have her ultimate wish come true. Dressed in a Cinderella gown complete with a tiara, 10-year-old Lianna was finally able to meet Princess Cinderella thanks to children’s charity Kids Wish Network.
“This was truly magical for Lianna,” says her mother Cordalia Garcia. “She got to hug Cinderella. It was a dream come true.”
Lianna’s life for the past few years has been anything but a dream. In 2011, Lianna encountered her first seizure, which lasted a full five minutes, and she was soon diagnosed with epilepsy, a life-threatening condition characterized by recurrent seizures. She was started on medication to treat her condition but still struggled with dangerously long seizures. Lianna has anywhere from 6 to 10 seizures a week and needs to have her treatment plan redesigned after every growth spurt.
After her first severe seizure, Lianna struggled with short-term memory loss and continues to work on improving her memory. Her frequent seizures make common activities like riding a bike extremely dangerous; at any moment, she could seize and gravely injure herself. Lianna also cannot be left alone.
