As a 14-year-old boy, Ian Davey was on holiday in Tenby with his family when he dived into the shallow end of a swimming pool and smacked his head on the floor.
The Tesco worker has suffered from epilepsy ever since and could be forgiven for not wanting to take to the water ever again.
But now, the 36-year-old from Ely, Cardiff, is gearing up to swim the English Channel to raise funds for charity Diabetes UK, after he was diagnosed as Type 2 diabetes two years ago.
Ian said he was inspired to do the swim after seeing others’ fund-raising efforts and doesn’t want his medical conditions to stop him living life to the full.
