A special needs high school student from Texas has been subjected to vicious bullying, receiving a barrage of offensive text messages from strangers poking fun at her condition and threatening to rape and kill her.
Shea Shawhan, of Plano, is 18 years old but has the mental capacity of an 8-year-old as a result of a severe brain injury she had suffered at birth.
Shea is a junior at Plano West Senior High School, where she plays softball and is a member of the cheer squad.
‘Shea should just have one of her seizures and die’: Special needs girl tormented with dozens of vile texts from bullies – and the abuse is so bad her mother has to sit with her at lunch for protection.
As a grown woman of 39, living with this disorder, I stand with you Shea Shawhan! These girls and their parents should be ashamed of themselves. God Bless You and your Family. RISE ABOVE!!!!
I think is disgusting that anyone make fun of a special needs person. Their parents have failed at basic parenting. love and acceptance is first taught at home at early development. I have a sister who is mentally disabled and it angers me to hear of anyone making fun of someone who is so sweet and loving. Parents you need to step up to the plate and teach your kids that this is moralistically wrong instead of enabling them because you want them be in the in crowd. And don’t even call yourselves Christians, because that is not what being a christian does.
