Victoria Cowie is a pretty girl, auburn hair framing a face that comes alive when she laughs and reveals the azure hue of her braces.
But there’s more than the usual measure of courage in this 12-year-old’s willowy 152-cm frame.
In September, while Victoria was deep into rehearsals for Windsor Light Music Theatre’s The King and I, she was diagnosed with a form of epilepsy that causes absence, or petit mal, seizures.
Several times each day, whether it’s when she is waiting for the school bus or speaking with her best friend, Victoria phases out, her eyelids begin to flutter and she stares straight ahead.
