Bradley Diebold battled hundreds of seizures, but, at age 2, he was also an active, mischievous toddler, dubbed a “superhero” by his family because of his happy demeanor.
Bradley from Hanover Park had a rare form of epilepsy called Dravet syndrome that nearly took his life several times and required constant vigilance, his mother said.
Yet when tragedy struck last weekend, it arrived in the form of a different, far more common summertime hazard. Bradley drowned in a canal, according to preliminary autopsy results, after apparently slipping away from family members Saturday afternoon at the Woodhaven Lakes campground near Sublette, Ill., about 110 miles west of Chicago.
