A man seriously injured when he was ejected from his pickup as it crashed into a gas substation Saturday had an epileptic seizure, a relative said.
Dylan Kent, 22, of Gulfport, was in serious condition Sunday in the intensive-care unit at the University of South Alabama Medical Center, a hospital spokeswoman said.
The crash also caused a natural gas leak and evacuation of nearby homes northeast of Crossroads Parkway.
Kent had been diagnosed with epilepsy about five years ago and his condition had been under control, said Kirstin Kent, his sister.
“It was a freak accident,” she said. “It’s really hard because he has family, including two young sisters, who really care about him.
