A teenager with epilepsy has been gifted a special bed alarm mat which will alert his family if he has night-time seizures following an appeal that gathered support from all over Teesside.
Kaiyne Sidgwick, 14, of Billingham, was saving up for the alarm himself, and when he lost a fiver his mum Tracy Waters posted on Facebook asking if anyone had found it.
Within minutes, she was inundated with offers of donations and the pounds began to roll in.
But when the story appeared in the Gazette, Hemlington man Richie Clarke, the founder of epilepsy charity Abbie’s Love, saw the appeal and jumped in to offer his help.
