EastEnders star Maddy Hill has spoken about her epilepsy storyline for the first time, admitting that she was initially “terrified” about portraying the condition on screen.
The actress’s character Nancy Carter was seen suffering a seizure in late January while out walking her family’s pet dog Lady Di.
After the scenes aired, charity Epilepsy Action announced that it had advised on the storyline and praised EastEnders bosses for raising awareness.
Speaking in a new behind-the-scenes video, Hill explained: “When I first found out that Nancy had epilepsy, I was absolutely terrified, just because I knew nothing about the illness. I didn’t know anyone who had epilepsy and I was very aware of wanting to be respectful to people who suffer with such a massive thing in day-to-day life.
