The mum of a two-year-old boy with epilepsy has praised a Derbyshire nursery which has won an award for its work supporting him with the condition.
Scallywags Nursery in Castle Lane, Melbourne, was crowned the winner of an Epilepsy Action education award or an “Edward”.
The nursery was chosen to receive the Edward for its support for two-year-old Alfie Saxby.
Alfie’s mum, Laura Saxby, nominated Scallywags.
She said: “We can’t praise them enough. They’ve been really supportive and nothing’s too much trouble for the staff.”
Alfie started having seizures in November 2012 and was eventually diagnosed with epilepsy in April this year. He has now started taking medication to help control his seizures and, although he has only been taking it for a short period of time, has not had a seizure since.
