A mother has had two electrodes planted into her brain in a pioneering bid to reduce seizures that have plagued her for most of her life.
Lisa Harper was not scared when it was suggested to her that two electrodes would be planted into her brain and left there.
All she could just about bring herself to feel was a glimmer of hope – that one day she would not be such a prisoner to the seizures that had plagued her for most of her life.
The 41-year-old, who was diagnosed with epilepsy when she was seven and has seizures most days, is one of the few people in the country to receive deep brain stimulation therapy.
