Vincent Zanfardino had been repeatedly warned by his doctor not to drive before he had an epileptic seizure behind the wheel two years ago and crashed into another car, killing a 25-year-old man, a Bronx prosecutor said Thursday.
Now Mr. Zanfardino, 53, a systems specialist at Con Edison, is on trial in State Supreme Court in the Bronx over his role in the crash, near exit 8C on the New England Thruway, on July 11, 2012. He has been charged with second-degree manslaughter, criminally negligent homicide, and several counts of assault. If convicted of the top charge, he would face a maximum penalty of 5 to 15 years in prison, according to prosecutors.
